The East Longmeadow Soccer Association congratulates its fifteen teams that played Pioneer Valley Spring soccer this year. A total of 90 players played on six teams in the U-9 and U-10 non results divisions where standings are not kept. They also participated in the Round Robin Soccer Jamboree held at the Westfield Middle School.

More than 160 players played on the other nine teams in the competitive divisions. The following six teams qualified for the playoffs held at the Wilbraham Soccer facilities on Stony Brook Road:

Coach Joe Mooney’s Under 11 Girls Div. 1 placed 2nd in their division and were Champions in the playoffs, beating Agawam 1-0

 


Spring 2009 Under 11 Girls Div.I Champions

 

Coach Dave Mackin’s Under 11 Girls Div. 3 placed 3rd in their division and were runners up in the playoffs losing to Hampshire United 0-1


Spring 2009 Under 11 Girls Div.III Runners Up

Coach Don Casella’s Under 12 Boys Div. 2 placed tied for 2nd in their division and were Champions in the playoffs defeating the Northampton team 1-0


Spring 2009 Under 12 Boys Div.II Champions

Coaches Ned Obernesser and Karoline Flynn’s Under 12 Girls Div. 2 placed 2nd in their division and were Champions in the playoffs, defeating Hampshire United 3-0


Spring 2009 Under 12 Girls Div.II Champions

Coach Joe Mooney’s Under 13 Boys Div. 1 placed 2nd in their division and were runners up in the playoffs, losing to Ludlow 1-2


Spring 2009 Under 13 Boys Div.I Runners Up

Coach John Ford’s Under 14 Girls Div. 1 placed 3rd in their division and were Champions in the playoffs by beating Cold Spring in double overtime 1-0

The East Longmeadow In-town Recreation Soccer program also recently concluded it’s spring season with 5 Kindergarten teams,  6 Grade 1-2 Boys teams, 9 Grades 1-2 Girls teams, and 6 Grades 3-5 co-ed teams, for a total of more than 300 players participating in the program.

 ELSA would like to thank the many coaches, assistants, referees, parents players and fans that helped make this a successful season. Special thanks go out to the ELSA association and board members that meet regularly to keep the programs alive and on schedule. It also appreciates the support of the recreation department; school department and the DPW who help ensure that the fields are scheduled and ready for both practice and games.
