Dear Bob,

            The East Longmeadow Soccer Association, along with the soccer booster clubs, recently voted to assist in the purchase of portable goals for the East Longmeadow High School soccer fields. This purchase is in appreciation of the school department’s generous permissions over the years, allowing our organization the use of fields of play at the numerous school facilities. These permissions allow hundreds of East Longmeadow school children the opportunity to learn and play the beautiful game of soccer.

            A check for $1,000 has been sent to Mr. Matthew Bean (ELPS Athletic Director) for the purchase of a set of portable soccer goals from the Western United Soccer Club. We realize that school funding has deteriorated over the recent past, and hope this money will help to relieve some of the pressure on your current budget. We look with hope to the future and to the ability of your committee to fully fund the educational process, including the cost of athletics and club activities. We also look to the continued use of the various soccer fields on school properties and the new goals. The success that East Longmeadow Soccer Association has realized over the years has been and remains dependent on the support of your committee and on the availability of these fields.

As you know we are currently working with the school department and the DPW on a five year plan for the renovation and rest of the athletic fields. It is our sincere desire to increase the level of cooperation between the various departments within the town in order to provide the student athletes the best possible practice and game facilities. If we can be of any service now or in the future, please don’t hesitate to ask.
